Classroom Management
I firmly believe that we all do better with encouragement and rewards. Therefore, there are multiple reward systems in place within my classroom.
Class Dojo
Class Dojo is an awesome site that allows me to reward my students and keep in touch with parents at the same time! Each student gets to choose his own "monster" to represent himself in the classroom and points are awarded for specific agreed-upon behaviors. At the end of a certain time frame, usually a week, students "cash in" their points for tickets that can be used as money for things like trips to the class Treasure Box, a chance to eat a treat from home during class, or the ability to switch seats for a class period. Parents are given a code specific to their child that allows them to view his or her progress and communicate with me in real time! The website is easy to navigate and the app is free! If you have lost your parent or student code, just see me for a copy!
On our agenda board, the Teacher's Assistant writes one letter per day to spell out "PERFECT ATTENDANCE" when all students are present in our homeroom. Once all letters have been added to the board, we have a classroom reward, such as donuts and milk provided for by me!
